Server migration is at the heart of what i-Zimbra does.
Over many years we have provided server migrations for almost every sector of industry, covering email systems, database systems, multi-user systems, data storage, websites, intranets and many more.
The combined experience of our technicians in this area is hard to surpass.
As equipment reaches the end of its useful or warranted life, many companies look to changing their IT equipment for newer and better performing equipment. Very often, this is coupled with the need to migrate software or data from the existing computer to the new.
Server migration is also completed for other reasons, such as the need to consolidate tasks onto a smaller number of computers, to merge data from diverse sources or just to add capacity to a system that cannot be expanded further.
Our basic services include the migration of File and Print services to upgraded hardware and software, which also includes platform migration (for example from the Novell Netware platform to the Microsoft Windows environment), retaining or enhancing function and implementing directory services as applicable.
We also work with database services include migration of Access databases to full SQL systems, through to the newest versions of SQL. We also have experience of the MySQL platform, postgres and several legacy systems. One of our specialities is data extraction and conversion from Motor-Trade Dealer Management systems (Please see our relevant case studies).
In regard to intranet, we have provided platform and version upgrades on Microsoft Sharepoint systems, have extensive experience with Content Management Systems and converting static webpages into manageable data that can be manipulated without intensive training to users, plus migration of systems from IIS based systems to open source systems.
We also have full working experience of migrating email systems, notably through the various versions of Microsoft Exchange and Novell Groupwise. Furthermore, we have working knowledge of Novell Groupwise migrations to Microsoft Exchange, including platform integration whilst services are being migrated.
We can also provide migration paths to hosted email systems and have extensive knowledge of the DNS system and how to use it to your advantage when migrations are underway.
